Glass Mould Castings
Eballoy®, available only from Erie Bronze, is a family of certified non-ferrous alloys designed to improve wear resistance, corrosion resistance and thermal conductivity in glass mould casting applications. These alloys offer glass-makers thermal conductivity ranging from 18 to 37 Btu-ft/hr-ft2-°F
Eballoy materials are used for a variety of mould casting applications, including neck rings, bottle moulds, bottom plates, baffles, and take outs. Neck rings are provided in an as cast or semi-machined condition with the mating faces and ends milled and one or more of the bands turned. Although typically held much tighter, our in-house machine shop works to a “half on half” tolerance of .002” (.05mm) and shake is held within .002” (.05mm). Other bronze castings are offered in the as cast condition and our typical sand casting dimensional tolerances will apply.
Nickel Inserted neck rings:
Erie Bronze also offers our high quality neck rings with a nickel insert for increased life in the finish area of the ring. The insert is available in Rockwell C hardness ranging from 30 to 44. Inserts are available in various hardnesses.

Eballoy 700 is an excellent moulding alloy with 15% nickel providing superior wear and corrosion resistance for casting neck rings and bottom plates.
Eballoy 690 is time tested standard for bronze bottle moulds where the operating environment consists of severe wear conditions at elevated temperatures.
Eballoy 728®
An alloy very similar to our Eballoy 700 with a higher Silicon content for increased machinability. This alloy is widely used in both neck ring and mould applications.
